Flash is an up and coming way for web design to be built. A lot of companies shy away from it because it is harder to do Search Engine Optimization, SEO, but man I love it. It is how you make a webpage not only pretty, but well Flash. It provides visual movement and engages the user in a more intimate way.

Flash originally developed by Macromedia, is not an Adobe product. It is rather expensive so I would get the trial to see how you like it. It takes a long time in order to do some really neat things, but you can do basic animations in the first 30 mins of understanding what you are doing.
